Everyone at 3 A.M.
Poem by Christine Lines, © 2010
Everyone,
at some point
in his or her
own life,
must realize
the path of others
does not have to be
the path
you take.
It’s okay.
Everyone,
in a crucial moment,
must decide
whether to take
the path of least resistance
or fight,
even if no one else
understands why.
It’s okay.
Everyone
faces a time
to choose
to fill the wallet
or to fill the heart,
to do a job
or fulfill a dream.
It’s okay.
Everyone
undergoes the pain
of choosing
to be with
the ones who hurt you
or be totally alone.
It’s okay.
Everyone
lies in bed
awake at 3 A.M.
crying,
hating life,
asking why,
begging forgiveness,
wanting someone
to hold
and be held
and told
it’s okay.
It’s okay.
Gally,
Thanks for letting me know it’s OK…
Rhyme on!
For that dark and lonely time when no one else is there, this poem remains as a reminder that it’s okay :3 Thanks for posting this, Tim!

Thanks for sharing this Gally, a wonderful poem. 3 am seems to be a time when poets and artist come alive. Very inspiring, and very readable good work. Bravo. x
In the end we are all the same whether villains or heroes, we all lie awake & think of these things in one form or another, it’s what we decide to do about it that separates us.
Great insights, Gally.
Thanks, you’ve shared some great insights about this poem, too :3
Thank you! I’m a night owl and tend to do a lot of writing late.
