Flash Full Moon Haiku Continuation Challenge – Update as of 10:03PM ET 06/01/2010

Latest Update – Here is what we have so far:

(Lisa)
Full moon pulls the tide

the beast pulses deep inside

rips through will not hide

(Tim)
Must resist; must fight

feelings eating my insides

too late, can’t stop now…

Flesh and bone bubble

morphing into fur and teeth

beware, my loved ones!

(Rachel)
Face you think you know

becomes muzzle, filled with teeth,

above heart of fire.

(Tim)
Mirror reflects pain

losing myself in horror

must fight to stay me

(Sean)
Manhole cover skewed

Black crescent on a black road

Moon reflects below

(Margo)
Cover me now, dear,

My appetite must not know

What surely it craves

Want you and now, dear

To devour with every sense

Lest I am contained

(Tim)
Urge out of control

Hunger must be satisfied

Frightened by desire

(Jodi)
Rising in darkness

The full moon opens it mouth

And swallows the sky

(Rachel)
Not rage rising, no;

it’s that silvery disc that

defines this new beast.

(Tim)
In my heart of hearts

Soon my grief will be assuaged

No more time to mourn

(Geoff)
Some who live in fear

will taste that moon in their blood

when teeth come like tide.

As joints dislocate

bones snap thicken align

a reborn creature

no laughter no tears

and no grief all humanity

replaced by hunger

(Jan)
Wild mind rages now

human conscience torn to shreds

leaves the soul to die.

No memory left

This night will be forgotten

until the next moon.

(Sandra)
Hot with want he chased

Caught, I let him take a bite

Sweet vitality

(Barbara)
Teeth vamp up for night

Beams applaud louder, louder

Full moon takes the 5th

(Rachel)
The moon says that he

is not responsible for

my crimes in his name.

He laughs when I try

to ask for some small respite;

my fate has been sealed.

.
.
Keep ’em coming.

Rhyme on!

  1. janflora says:

Nice work! I have had werewolves on the brain lately too 🙂

  2. Sandra says:

Hope it’s not too late for a Flash Full Moon Haiku

    Hot with want he chased
Caught, I let him take a bite
    Sweet vitality

    • Tim Keeton says:

Not at all, not at all.

This haiku sounds like you might be spending too much listening to Margo and Jodi… 😉

It makes me think of Rhys Ifans’ line from Pirate Radio:

      “Are you doing something naughty?”

    • I’m so rude, Sandra. Please forgive me for commandeering your comment thread.
I have to say “Hot with want” is right up my alley, as Tim already noticed.
Also love that the last line leaves me asking, “Who’s ‘sweet vitality’ are we talking about?”
Now that there’s a good question.

  3. Tim, I am both insulted and flattered!
    I think.

  4. Aren’t we all just amalgams of real people, Tim?
    🙂

  5. Sandra says:

You two are silly (perhaps other things, too). The haiku was actually for my werewolf-lovin friends. I let them live vicariously through my words, if they behave. As for who’s sweet vitality I’m talking ’bout, that’s up to the reader to decide. 😉
